juxtaposition

This painting was inspired over the weekend when I was driving around Maine sprinkling my family's cremated remains where they wished. It was an emotional weekend obviously, but also a joyous one fulfilling their final wishes. The idea for a painting that contrasted itself in textures and colors came from this source of very different emotions being felt almost simultaneously.

I worked in layers building up multiple paintings over one another to create the final effect.
